Fleetwood Town's boat came in yesterday as they sprang the shock of the FA Cup First Round. The Trawlermen, second in the Conference, beat Wycombe of League One 2-0 scoring a goal in each half despite being reduced to 10 men when Richard Brodie was sent off on the stroke ofhalf-time.

By that time they were a goal to the good, Alan Goodall setting up Andy Mangan's 25th-minute strike. Brodie's foul on Leon Johnson saw him dismissed, but the Cod Army were not to be denied and with 10 minutes remaining Mangan turned provider as Jamie Vardy made the tie safe at 2-0.

Elsewhere there were replays for Bath City, bottom of the Conference, who drew 1-1 at Dagenham & Redbridge, while Stourbridge of the Evo-Stik South put the League's bottom club, Plymouth Argyle, under great pressure at Home Park. Having conceded an early goal, the non-leaguers recovered to lead 2-1 and 3-2 but after Argyle had two players dismissed they forced a replay as it ended 3-3.

Grimsby Town, in the League until last year, drew 0-0 at Port Vale, and Maidenhead United of the Conference South side drew 1-1 with League Two Aldershot.

AFC Totton of the Evo-Stik South scored eight against visiting Bradford PA of the Evo-Stik Premier. Bradford were reduced to 10 men after 11 minutes when Richard Marshall saw red. Totton made excellent use of the extra man, scoring four in each half, Stefan Brown claiming a hat-trick, as Bradford were reduced to nine men, Martin Drury sent off after a second yellow card in the 65th minute with the score at 5-1.

An eventful first seven minutes at Boundary Park where visitors Burton Albion's Ryan Austin was sent off in the third minute, Shefki Kuqi gave Oldham Athletic the lead from the resulting penalty, and three minutes later Brewers goalkeeper Ross Atkins gave away another penalty but saved Kuqi's kick. Just after the half-hour Kuqi set up Dean Furman for the Latics' third. It ended 3-1.

Conference side Gateshead won the north-east derby at Conference North Blyth Spartans 2-0 and Conference South side Chelmsford City beat Conference strugglers AFC Telford 4-0; Conference North Hinckley United drew 2-2 with Tamworth of the Conference.

Paolo Di Canio's Swindon Town of League Two beat Huddersfield, second in League One, 4-1 while League Two leaders Southend drew 0-0 at League One Preston.
