Fleetwood Town, currently second in the Blue Square Bet Premier, won through to the third round of the FA Cup for the first time in their history last night, securing an appetising home derby against local rivals Blackpool.

Micky Mellon's side won 2-0 in their second-round replay at League One Yeovil, goals from Jamie McGuire and highly rated striker Jamie Vardy delighting the "Cod Army", who had made made the long journey to Huish Park.

McGuire's drive from the edge of the penalty area in the 28th minute was just reward for an enterprising first-half from the non-League team but Yeovil, who were leading the first game 2-0 with eight minutes to go before Fleetwood snatched a replay, forced them back in the second half and went close to equalising.

Both sides had a player sent off, Yeovil defender Bondz N'Gala and Fleetwood centre-half Steve McNulty getting red cards for second bookable offences, before Gavin Williams sent a last-minute flying header just over the visitors' bar with the goal gaping. Fleetwood promptly broke and Vardy's run and finish showed why plenty of League clubs are closely watching his progress.

Elsewhere, a Chris Taylor goal just before the hour earned Oldham a lucrative third-round visit to Liverpool as they beat Southend 1-0 at Boundary Park. Salisbury City came from 2-1 down in extra-time to win 3-2 at Grimsby to clinch a trip to Sheffield United, Stuart Anderson's penalty proving the difference for the Blue Square Bet South side. Dagenham, bottom of League Two, beat Walsall 3-2 on penalties after the match finished goalless at the Banks's Stadium.
