Harry Redknapp will try to put his personal problems aside and deliver a pre-match team talk to his Tottenham side before tonight's game at Watford, rush-hour traffic permitting.

As soon as his tax evasion trial at Southwark Crown Court finishes for the day, the 64-year-old will set off to meet up with his players at a hotel before the FA Cup fourth-round tie. The distance between the court in south London and Watford's Vicarage Road ground is just over 20 miles but the journey will take place at the busiest time of the day.

Assistant manager Kevin Bond yesterday confirmed Redknapp was determined to resume his day job as soon as possible.

Bond said: "I'm not completely au fait with the logistics but he will come away from the court and at the earliest opportunity meet us in the hotel we are staying in. He will give the team talk."

Bond is confident the court case will not distract Redknapp from getting the better of opponents who are 18th in the Championship.

"He's no different to how he has always been," Bond said. "He appears when I speak to him – and I'd know – to be every bit as focused as he ever has been. He was keen to know my thoughts on Watford and how we are looking. We made preparations to come to the game and he was looking forward to it."
