Jose Mourinho made Lloyd Burton’s night when he met the young Shrewsbury Town supporter ahead of Chelsea’s Capital One Cup victory last night.
The 11-year-old, who has cancer, appeared delighted while posing for pictures with the Portuguese manager, before Chelsea eventually ran out 2-1 winners in a close game.
Burton sits on a wheelchair having undergone chemotherapy for a brain tumour he was diagnosed with last year; Mourinho also signed an impressive portrait painted by the youngster.
Lloyd has previously appeared alongside David Beckham on the Channel 4 programme Stand Up To Cancer and has been described by Shrewsbury manager as the club’s most famous supporter by manager Mickey Mellon.
As part of a community scheme run by the League Two club, Lloyd coloured in the paint-by-numbers portrait that will now be auctioned off to raise money.
The money raised will pay eventually pay for a lift and a wet room to be installed in his house.
