Two late goals kept Queen's Park Rangers five points ahead of their nearest rivals Swansea in the Championship title race last night. First Clint Hill and then Heidar Helguson struck to ensure Neil Warnock's side battled past Ipswich.
It was a crucial victory as their closest pursuers Swansea – who jumped above Nottingham Forest after the Midlanders' 2-2 draw at home with Preston – secured a late victory of their own, 1-0 away to Coventry. Four minutes after coming off the bench, Stephen Dobbie saw the Sky Blues' keeper Kieron Westwood off his line and took advantage.
At the other end of the table, Derby's alarming slump continued as they lost 1-0 to Hull. Defender Anthony Gerrard scored the only goal of the game midway through the second half from Robert Koren's inswinging corner.Reuse content
