Leicester City consolidated their position at the top of the Championship last night with a 1-0 win over Brighton. Andy King's 10th-minute goal earned a sixth win in seven games for Nigel Pearson's side.

Cardiff in second left it late to overcome Watford 2-1, who finished the match with nine men after Daniel Pudil and Nathaniel Chalobah were sent off in the space of eight minutes in the second half. Aron Gunnarsson's 90th-minute winner compounded the pain for Gianfranco Zola's team.

Huddersfield, who started the night in third, were humbled at Peterborough, who were on the bottom, George Boyd scoring twice as Darren Ferguson's side won 3-1 at London Road. Middlesbrough moved into the top four with a 2-0 win over Hull City at the Riverside.
