David Healy held his nerve to tuck away a penalty two minutes from the end of normal time and earn Leeds a precious point in their quest to be the Yorkshire side accompanying Reading into the Premiership in May. The point, hard won but deserved, lifted Kevin Blackwell's side to within four points of second-placed Sheffield United with a game in hand and a match against the Blades still to come.

In the first half Leeds were put to the severest test by the Sky Blues who had won their six previous home games. Without the talismanic Dennis Wise in midfield - he was uncharacteristically suspended - Micky Adams' side had Don Hutchison pulling the strings.

The former Scotland international had already rattled the crossbar with a free-kick when, in the 26th minute, he slipped the ball to Dele Adebola in the penalty area. The big striker held off three defenders and found Gary McSheffrey who beat Neil Sullivan with a low shot for his 13th Championship goal of the season.

Coventry could have been further ahead when Adebola's overhead kick was cleared off the line by Matthew Kilgallon, the defender in for the suspended Sean Gregan.

For Leeds, Rob Hulse went close early on with a half chance but in the second half they increased the tempo, putting the Sky Blues under incessant pressure as Liam Miller forced Martin Fulop into a fine save. But when Eddie Lewis crossed from the left, the ball hit Andrew Whing's hand. Healy did the rest.
