Should Kevin Blackwell stay? Despite this win I still want him to go. Trevor Birch is actively seeking investment but with the type of football we play under Blackwell we aren't an attractive proposition on the pitch. I reckon the golden handshake is on its way but he's bought himself a little more time with this result.

What next for United? Despite our recent terrible run, this victory means we're only four points away from a play-off place. Amazing. Plymouth away on Saturday could be crucial. (ROIBlade, Sheffield United fan).

Crystal Palace 3 Watford 0

Who was Palace's star man? Victor Moses was outstanding. He broke the deadlock with an exquisite piece of skill and then set up the third for Darren Ambrose after an unbelievable 60-yard run which left the trailing Watford defenders in his wake. Breathtaking stuff.

Any other good displays? Ambrose is in the form of his life. He's now scored in the last six matches, the first player to achieve that feat since Ian Wright more than 20 years ago. He's already got 12 goals in what is turning out to be an incredible season for him. (cp84, Crystal Palace fan).

Derby 2 Reading 1

Have Derby turned the corner? This win gives us some breathing space as we're now five points above the relegation zone but there's still lots of room for improvement. We've only picked up two points out of a possible 27 on our travels and have got trips to Preston, Watford and Newcastle coming up.

What next for the Rams? It's only our home form that's keeping our heads above water but in-form West Brom's visit to Pride Park on Saturday will show us if we really are making any progress. (Baseball_barry, Derby County fan).

Newcastle 3 Swansea 0

Has Marlon Harewood turned the corner? Only time will tell. He happened to be on the end of two superb crosses and some would argue that the hard work was done for him. His work-rate was no better than normal but at least he appeared to read the play better.

What were the visitors like? The Swansea players seemed shell-shocked by the atmosphere and, by the time they got over their bout of sea legs, they were 3-0 down. The golden rule when visiting St James' Park is to kill the game early and silence the crowd. (Kev Fletcher, newcastleutd-mad.co.uk)

Nottm Forest 4 Doncaster 1

Was it a fair result? It could have been a much bigger margin of victory to be honest. At last Billy Davies played with an attacking formation at home and picked our best attacking players. Result, we scored more than one goal in a game and it was an absolutely superb result.

Who was the key player? Robert Earnshaw plays, Robert Earnshaw scores, simple as that. He hadn't started a Championship game since mid-September but always looks like he's going to score and has to start. (markinexile, Forest fan).

Peterborough 2 Middlesbrough 2

Can Boro win promotion? It's looking increasingly unlikely. West Brom and Newcastle already seem to have got the automatic places sewn up and, if we can't beat the likes of Peterborough and Plymouth, we're not even going to get into the play-offs. Desperate days indeed.

How did Boro play? We dominated the game and should have won at a canter. Again. But that's five games without a victory since Southgate departed and that simply isn't good enough. We're better than that. (steve_yarm, Boro fan).

Saved by the weather? A memorable escape! In the end it was a useful match. There were plenty of lessons learned the hard way but no consequences, other than embarrassment. We now know that Craig Noone should be trusted to start matches, even on poor dribbling surfaces, that the new-look 4-3-2-1 formation was a joke and that Krisztian Timar is no longer good enough at this level.

Should the match have continued? No and I bet Paul Sturrock was of the same opinion! (pilgrimpete, Plymouth fan).

QPR 2 Coventry 2

Was it a fair result? I thought we edged the game and should have won it, particularly after they had their captain Stephen Wright sent off. But mid-October when we scored 12 goals in three matches seems a long way off just now. (loftusloafer, QPR fan).

What's gone wrong at Coventry? It's a good job we had such a good start to the season as that's now eight games without a win, although to get a point at Loftus Road was a good result. I'd certainly have taken it before kick-off. (skybluesid, Coventry fan).

Scunthorpe 1 Leicester 1

Can Scunthorpe stay up? If we show the same passion and commitment as we did here then there's every chance. We'd been poor recently but this performance gives us all hope that an immediate return to League One can be avoided.

Who was the star man? Joe Murphy was absolutely outstanding. He made three or four world-class saves that kept us in the game when we were really up against it. Grant McCann was terrible though and Paul Hayes was little better. (sufc86, Scunthorpe fan).

Sheff Wed 0 West Brom 4

Was it a fair result? They looked sharp throughout, although the first goal seemed to settle West Brom down and allow them to dictate the match from that point onwards.

What next for Wednesday? We are clearly in danger of being sucked into a relegation battle. Fans appreciate that Brian Laws has had little to work with financially but his substitutions and tactics are being called into question more and more of late. If we don't get a positive result at home to Reading next weekend he will be under immense pressure. (Chris Morris, owls-mad.co.uk)

Will Cardiff win promotion? We've lost three games on the spin and that tells you all you need to know. The Premier League is a pipe dream at best and the reality is we are probably a mid-table Championship side who will be lucky to make the play-offs. (true_blue, Cardiff fan)

What now for Ipswich? Hopefully all those calling for Roy Keane will now give it a rest. Sure he should have done better at the beginning after spending big in the summer but we're now starting to see a never-say-die side emerge in his mould. Well done Roy! (Fernando, Ipswich fan)
