Plymouth Argyle have confirmed they will hold a board meeting tomorrow after Ian Holloway tendered his resignation yesterday. The 44-year-old took over at Home Park in the summer of 2006 and led the Pilgrims to an 11th-placed finish in his first season.

This term Holloway has guided the club to seventh place, but has recently been linked with the vacant position at Championship rivals Leicester City.

A statement on the club's official website, read: "Plymouth Argyle confirm that Ian Holloway has tendered his resignation as manager of the club. The club has convened a board meeting for Friday this week where this will be considered.

"In the meantime, Ian continues to be employed by the club and subject to the terms of his contract of employment. No further comment will be made pending the board meeting this Friday."

Luton Town have confirmed that directors John Mitchell and Richard Bagehot have agreed to step down from the board after being charged by the Football Association last week.

The pair were both charged by the FA with failing to report the breaches of regulations regarding payments to agents when they became aware of them. Chairman David Pinkney told the club's official website: "I would applaud their hard work and past commitments to the club and will miss their energy and enthusiasm."

The League One club have also reiterated that a further statement in relation to the FA charges will be "forthcoming in due course."

John Hartson has rejected an approach from Chester after the League Two club made a bid for the West Bromwich Albion striker who is currently on loan at Norwich City. Hartson is not prepared to make the division drop to Bobby Williamson's side.
