League Two's bottom club, Macclesfield, drew 0-0 at Bristol Rovers despite having Danny Swailes sent off, but they are still seven points adrift. The cavalry, however, is on the way. A press conference at 3pm tomorrow afternoon is expected to see Paul Ince, 39, late of England, West Ham, Manchester United, Liverpool, Wolves and Swindon, unveiled as new manager at Moss Rose.

Meanwhile, Nicky Southall was on target for the League One leaders, Nottingham Forest, who beat Bristol City 1-0 to open up a five-point gap over Yeovil, who beat Oldham 1-0. Forest scored after a Bristol corner, when Kris Commons' pacy break was ended by a foul and Southall thumped in a 20-yard free kick.

Back in League Two, the leaders, Walsall, won 2-1 at Accrington Stanley, while Lincoln City, second, thrashed Rochdale 7-1, Jamie Forrester scoring his third hat-trick of the season.
