A winding-up petition against Sheffield Wednesday was dismissed at the High Court yesterday after the club paid their tax debts in full. The League One side have been saved from possible administration after the £9m takeover by Milan Mandaric.
The former Portsmouth and Leicester owner settled the club's outstanding £1.1m debt to Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC). Catherine Addy, representing HMRC, told Mr Registrar Jaques that the debt had been paid in full and asked for the petition to be dismissed.
On Tuesday Mandaric vowed to take Wednesday back to the Premier League.
