Josh Scott scored four goals as Dagenham & Redbridge all but secured their place in the League Two play-off final with a 6-0 thrashing of Morecambe yesterday.

Dagenham took just four minutes to open the scoring through Paul Benson and capped a marvellous performance at Victoria Road with five more goals. Scott struck four in the space of 34 minutes, with Benson adding another as the Daggers made a mockery of Morecambe's fourth-placed finish.

Rotherham striker Adam Le Fondre claimed his 29th goal of the season as the Millers snatched a late winner at Aldershot in the other play-off semi-final first leg on Saturday. Le Fondre took advantage of a defensive mistake from Aaron Brown with two minutes to go in Rotherham's 1-0 win.

Oxford United are back in the Football League after a four-year absence, a 3-1 victory over York in the Blue Square Premier play-off final at Wembley yesterday clinching a return to League Two.

Police were forced to break up "ugly" scenes between fans on Saturday after the goalless League One play-off semi-final first leg between Huddersfield Town and Millwall at the Galpharm Stadium. Three fans were arrested after trouble flared in the stands following the final whistle. Swindon lead Charlton 2-1 in the other League One tie, with the second leg tonight.
