Round-up: It’s treble top as Burnley are held by Forest

Queens Park Rangers and Leicester City took advantage of Burnley’s 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest yesterday to move level on points with Sean Dyche’s side at the top of the Championship.

Sam Vokes claimed his 10th goal of the season from the penalty spot in the 28th minute following a handball from Gonzalo Jara, but Simon Cox equalised for Forest three minutes before half-time.

Charlie Austin’s fine strike ensured QPR’s Harry Redknapp celebrated his 30-year anniversary in management with a 1-0 home victory against Charlton Athletic.

Nigel Pearson, Leicester’s manager, paid tribute to the persistence of David Nugent after he struck twice in their 2-1 win at Ipswich Town. The former Portsmouth striker has now scored 13 goals in 12 games. “I am pleased his run has carried on,” said Pearson. “Like any striker, there are going to be spells when goals are a scarce. But he has kept on going and getting into the right areas. He also needs a manager to back him, which he has.”
