Round-up: Steve Kean rues points lost on Blackburn roller coaster

The Blackburn Rovers manager, Steve Kean, put his side's second-half collapse in their 3-3 draw at Leeds United down to conceding just before half-time. Rovers were 2-0 up after 27 minutes through Marcus Olsson and Nuno Gomes, but their former striker El Hadji Diouf struck just before the break to cut the deficit. Ross McCormack's volley and Luciano Becchio's fifth goal in as many games put Leeds 3-2 up in the second half before a late, close-range back-heel from Ruben Rochina saved a point for the visitors.

"If we had gone in two goals up at half-time I think we would have won but full credit to Leeds, they had a real go," said Kean. "It was a roller-coaster game and looking back we will think it was a decent point, but at two up we were in total control."

Derby County claimed their first three-point haul of the season with a convincing 5-1 win over Gianfranco Zola's Watford at Pride Park. The Italian, who had had a steady start to his tenure at Vicarage Road, did not see the result coming.

"I know it was a difficult game for many reasons but, honestly, I didn't expect that," Zola said. "I didn't like the reaction after we conceded the first goal – it has to be better."

Bolton Wanderers' disappointing start to the season continued with a 3-1 defeat at Hull City, which left manager Owen Coyle dismayed with his team's defending. "We'll always create chances, because I think we're a very offensive team and we've got terrific attacking players, but we have to learn to defend and cut out sloppy goals," said the Scot.

Blackpool's 100 per cent record fell with a 1-0 defeat at Leicester City; Ben Marshall scored the winner from the spot early in the second half.

James Vaughan struck late on at Ipswich Town to grab Huddersfield Town a point in a 2-2 draw; the visitors, who led at the break through Adam Clayton, missed the chance of a last-minute winner when Scott Loach saved Vaughan's penalty. Luke Chambers and Michael Chopra were the Ipswich scorers.

Birmingham City finally tasted victory with a 1-0 win over pointless Peterborough United thanks to a Robert Olejnik own goal. Newly promoted Sheffield Wednesday lost for the first time since mid-February, going down 2-1 at Crystal Palace, for whom Glenn Murray scored twice.

In League One, Sheffield United beat AFC Bournemouth 5-3, while Jake Cassidy scored a hat-trick for leaders Tranmere Rovers in a 4-0 thrashing of Colchester United.
