West Brom have confirmed the appointment of experienced former Wimbledon boss Terry Burton as their new first-team coach.

Burton, 59, has been appointed on an interim basis until the end of the season.

He will fill the role previously occupied by Keith Downing, who has been promoted to role of assistant manager after Roy Hodgson's former number two Michael Appleton left to become Portsmouth boss last month.

Burton has a wealth of experience in the game, including a spell as manager of Wimbledon between 2000 and 2002 and stints as assistant manager at both Watford and Cardiff.

He has most recently been working as a scout for Arsenal.
