Utrecht led 1-0 at the break through Dave van den Bergh, but PSV's Kevin Hofland equalised. Arnold Bruggink missed several chances before he put PSV ahead and Dennis Rommedahl sealed the points.

Lens stayed top of the French First Division on Saturday despite conceding a last- minute equaliser in a 1-1 draw at struggling Bordeaux. Lens looked set for all three points after their Argentinian striker Esteban Fuertes gave them a 34th-minute lead following a David Sommeil error, but Lilian Laslandes headed the late equaliser for the 1999 champions, who have yet to win this season.

Lens are unbeaten in five matches and have 11 points - one more than fellow northerners Lille, who rallied to win 2-1 at home to Metz, and Nantes, who drew 1-1 at Toulouse.

Around 300 angry Eintracht Frankfurt fans staged a sitdown protest in front of the team bus on Saturday night after their side lost 6-1 in the German Cup to the amateurs of VfB Stuttgart. The fans shouted obscenities at the players, disparaged their high salaries and told Eintracht they would no longer follow the team to their next match in Cottbus. Police were called in to escort the bus past the enraged fans.

The Frankfurt coach, Felix Magath, criticised his players for a desolate performance. "It didn't matter whether we lost 3-1 or 6-1, the bigger point is that if they can't put in a better performance than that they are in the wrong profession," he said. "The club is making achievements but the players aren't. Sorry, that's not going to cut it."

There was another upset yesterday, when Cologne were thrashed 5-2 by the regional side FC Magdeburg. "There's nothing positive to say about this at all," said the Cologne coach, Ewald Lienen. "We lost to a regional league team 5-2. Our play, especially in the first half, was a far cry from professional standards."

The German Cup holders, Bayern Munich, struggled for 30 minutes against another lowly regional side, FV Schoenberg 95, before winning 4-0, while Hertha BSC averted humiliation with an added-time goal to beat SSV Reutlingen 3-2, the Greek international Kostas Konstantinidis heading Hertha's winner in the 93rd minute.

The Barcelona winger Boudewijn Zenden will miss the start of the Spanish season after suffering ligament damage.
