Roy Hodgson rarely manages to please everybody while picking his England squads and his selection for this summer’s European Championships has proved typically divisive.

Debates have surrounded Hodgson’s selection of players like James Milner, Fabian Delph and Andros Townsend for some time now.

Wayne Rooney, the national team’s captain and all-time leading goalscorer, has not been immune from criticism either, with his place in the side coming into question several times during Hodgson’s reign.

Such questions will undoubtedly rear up again during the tournament but following the announcement of the 26-man provisional squad today, many users on social media felt the need to register their disapproval early…
