France vs Germany team news: All change for Germany with Per Mertesacker dropped and veteran Miroslav Klose recalled

Both sides alter their line-ups following quarter finals

Germany have recalled veteran striker Miroslav Klose and dropped centre-back Per Mertesacker as they make a host of changes for their World Cup quarter-final with France.

Thomas Muller drops back to the wing to accommodate Klose, who gets another chance to break the World Cup scoring record of 15 goals that he currently shares with Brazilian legend Ronaldo. 

Mats Hummels returns at centre-back in place of Mertesacker and Philipp Lahm moves to right-back instead of centre midfield, where Sami Khedira partners Bastian Schweinsteiger. 

France coach Didier Deschamps has made two changes from the team which beat Nigeria 2-0 in the second round, bringing back fit-again Mamadou Sakho for Laurent Koscielny iand Antoine Griezmann for Olivier Giroud in attack.

Karim Benzema is back in his preferred position as centre forward.
