After being left out of the recent friendly with Italy, John Terry has been named in Roy Hodgson’s 24-man England squad for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine.

After being cleared at Westminster Magistrates Court in July, the former captain is still facing a charge from the FA in connection to allegations of racial abuse involving QPR defender Anton Ferdinand.

Chelsea’s Ryan Bertand is another notable inclusion after an impressive start to the campaign, and will provide versatility on the left side of defence and midfield after making a brief cameo appearance in his debut against Italy.

Fellow Chelsea defender Ashley Cole also returns after missing the friendly in Bern, while Steven Caulker and recently-signed Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell are sent to Stuart Pearce’s under-21 squad as Hodgson names a more experienced side.

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson, part of Hodgson’s squad for the European Championships in the summer, has also been sent to the under-21 set up.

Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney misses out after being ruled out for around a month after picking up a gashed leg in last weekend’s win over Fulham, with teammate Danny Welbeck returning to the attack and Ashley Young missing out.

Much of England’s front-line could all have a new club by the time the team meet on Monday, with Andy Carroll, Theo Walcott, and Daniel Sturridge all rumoured to have attracted interest for moves before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Friday.

England travel to Chisnau to face Moldova next Friday, with Ukraine visiting Wembley the following Tuesday.
