Luis Suarez bite: Diego Maradona blasts four-month ban, stating 'No one has been killed'

Maradona has sensed a kindred spirit in the Liverpool striker

Diego Maradona has blasted Fifa for their four-month ban handed to Luis Suarez for biting Giorgio Chiellini.

The Argentina legend, no stranger to controversy himself, made the comments on De Zurda TV show, broadcast from Rio, while wearing a T-shirt in support of Suarez emblazoned with the statement: "Luisito Estamos Con Vos", which translates to "Little Luis we are with you".

Maradona is reported to have said: "Why? Who is killed? This is football, this is friction - why not send him to Guantanamo?"

Suarez will not be able to pay for Liverpool again until after 26 October, meaning he will miss 13 matches for the club. He has also been suspended for nine international games.

The career of Maradona, although one of the greatest players to grace a football pitch, was also blighted by controversy, including the infamous "Hand of God" goal tournament after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs.
