Germany striker broke record during first half mauling of Brazil

Miroslav Klose now stands alone as the all-time leading scorer at the World Cup.

The Germany forward netted the second goal in the semi-final against Brazil to take his tally to 16.

After his goal earlier in the tournament, against Ghana, he had drawn level with Brazil great Ronaldo on 15.

His goals extend over four World Cups going back to 2002 and a total of 23 games.

At the 2002 tournament in Japan and South Korea he scored five, a total he matched at the 2006 tournament in his own country.

In South Africa he netted four-times and took his tally for the current tournament to two with his goal during the first-half demolition of Brazil.
