It’s a big game for…

Joe Allen: The Stoke City midfielder comes into the match in sparkling form after being reinvented by his fellow countryman Mark Hughes as a number ten. The Welshman has four goals and two assists in his last 6 games and will hope to add to his two international goals on Saturday evening.

Best stat…

Wales have conceded nine goals in their only two fixtures against the Eastern Europeans and go into the match in third place in Group D, with Serbia sitting in first. However, Allen and key man Gareth Bale have been in great form for their clubs recently and so Wales are favourites to record their first ever victory against Serbia.

Remember when…

Wales were thrashed 6-1 by Serbia in a World Cup qualifying match in 2012. Manager Chris Coleman openly admits that he was close to resigning after that humiliating defeat and his side fared little better a year later when they lost 3-0 at home. How times have changed - Wales famously reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016, a tournament which Serbia failed to qualify for.

Player to watch…

Dusan Tadic: The Southampton playmaker has scored three goals in three games so far this qualifying campaign, showing he has more to his game than just creative ability. The Welsh defence will need to be on their guard to keep out Tadic and his team-mate, Newcastle striker Alexander Mitrovic, who scored twice in Serbia’s previous game, a 3-2 victory over Austria.
