England No 2 Ben Foster played a golfing prank on No 3 Fraser Forster as Roy Hodgson's side took some time off from preparing for the World Cup.

The squad are over at the Vale do Lobo resort in Portugal at the moment for warm-weather training with the finals now just three weeks away.

On some down time away from the training regime, the goalkeepers went out for a round of golf, a favourite pastime of footballers.

It was on the course that the West Brom's Foster played the old exploding ball prank on Celtic's Forster as he went to drive from the tee, using a golf ball that can be bought in all good joke shops.

Forster found the jape hilarious, as he captured on film by Foster, who quickly posted it on his Instagram account with the caption: "Got big Fraser Forster to fall for the exploding ball trick."

England get their World Cup campaign underway against Italy in the sweltering Manaus on 14 June, before playing Uruguay and Costa Rica in Group D.
