Jack Warner was spotted dancing and waving to his supporters hours after being released from jail and taken to hospital in an ambulance due to exhaustion.

The disgraced former Fifa vice-president was arrested on Wednesday after handing himself in to authorities as part of a dual investigation into alleged corruption within the world governing body. 14 current and former Fifa members were arrested on corruption charges led by the United States’ FBI and Swiss prosecutors, which included seven current members who were in Zurich for the Fifa Congress meeting.

Warner was arrested in Trinidad and held overnight with his bail set at $395,000 (£258,300), but he left jail in an ambulance after complaining of exhaustion.

However, despite the visit to hospital, Warner made an appearance at an Independent Liberal Party rally, with the 75-year-old an opposition member of parliament. He was pictured dancing and waving to his supporters who cheered upon his arrival, and appeared to be fit and healthy and showing no signs of exhaustion.

"If I have been thieving FIFA money for 30 years, who give me the money?” Warner asked at the rally. “How come he is not charged? Why only persons from Third World countries have been charged?”

Warner was forced out of Fifa in 2011 after being exposed in a bribery scandal, but he has continued to deny any wrongdoing. Following the arrests in Zurich, Warner turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday and was granted a $395,000 (£258,300) bail, although he spent the night in jail. Warner faces eight counts in the United States including conspiracy to defraud and engage in racketeering, and a judge ordered him to surrender his passport and report to police twice a week.

Warner has not entered a plea and is expected to appear in court in Trinidad in July.
