Welcome to The Independent's live coverage of today's Premier League action, with Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City all facing difficult encounters that could dent their title hopes.
Chelsea began the day aiming to record a 24th unbeaten match in a row, a new club record, but they suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to the Magpies. Papiss Cisse came off the bench to net a brace, and despite a Steven Taylor red card and a late Didier Drogba consolation, it was enough to inflict Chelsea's first defeat of the season in any competition.
Following the match in the north-east, we brought you five games from around the country. Hull played out a 0-0 draw with West Brom at the KC Stadium after Allan McGregor saved a Graham Dorrans penalty. Liverpool could only muster a 0-0 draw with Sunderland at Anfield as their troubles in front of goal continue.
Queens Park Rangers emerged with a 2-0 win over Burnley at Loftus Road despite Charlie Austin being sent-off. Stoke provided another shock upset as they beat Arsenal 3-2 in a grudge match at the Britannia and Spurs were held to a goalless draw by Crystal Palace at White Hart Lane.
The final match of the day sees reigning champions Manchester City take on Everton at the Etihad Stadium, where Manuel Pellegrini's side will be looking to keep pace with league leaders Chelsea.
