Welcome to The Independent's live coverage of today's Premier League action where we'll keep you up-to-date with the latest news, goals and talking points from around the grounds.

With no early game, we began with a bang as six matches kicked-off at 3pm with the top-two in the league in action.

Chelsea recovered from their shock 2-0 defeat to Newcastle last weekend as they overcame Hull at Stamford Bridge thanks to Eden Hazard and Diego Costa.

Manchester City remain hot on their heels after former Blue Frank Lampard scored his 175th Premier League goal to give City a narrow win over basement side Leicester.

Burnley upset Southampton and condemned the Saints to a fifth straight defeat with Ashley Barnes netting what proved to be the winner, Crystal Palace and Stoke finished all square as Peter Crouch cancelled out James McArthur's early goal, and Sunderland held West Ham to a draw with a Jordi Gomez penalty quickly followed by a Stewart Downing effort.

Finally, West Brom secured a Midlands derby victory over 10-man Aston Villa after Kieran Richardson saw red, with Craig Gardner giving the Baggies the plaudits.

We ended the day with a hotly-anticipated match between an out-of-sorts Arsenal and a rejuvenated Newcastle, but it was the complete opposite as braces from Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla helped the Gunners secure a comfortable 4-1 victory.
