Arsenal 'Invincible' Jens Lehmann offers £2,000 reward for the return of the contents of a bag stolen from his car in London

The 45-year-old German is due to attend the Champions League fixture at the Emirates between Arsenal and Bayern Munich on Wednesday but has pleaded for his possessions to be returned

Former Arsenal ‘Invincible’ Jens Lehmann has taken to social media in a plea to get his stolen bag back from thieves that took it from his car outside a shop in London.

The German has offered a £2,000 reward (or £2 depending on how you interpret his decimal point placing) to anyone who can retrieve his stolen property by Wednesday.

Lehmann posted on his official Twitter account: “My dear followers, I am asking for some help. My bag has been stolen today out of a red fiat500 at Duke Street, London, W1, near Selfridges.

“If the back [bag] and all personal contents can be returned to me by Wednesday, I will pay 2.000 pounds. Please contact me by…T witter!!!”

Lehmann is in the capital after being a part of BT Sport’s live coverage of the FA Cup tie between Arsenal and Liverpool on Sunday, and he has chosen to stay in London to watch Wednesday’s mouth-watering Champions League clash between his former club and holders Bayern Munich.

Given that Lehmann’s offer of a £2,000 reward expires on Wednesday, the contents of his bag have suddenly become of interest. Some Arsenal fans have joked on social media that his old boots are in the bag ready for a third comeback for the Gunners.

The 44-year-old retired from the game in 2010 before making a dramatic return to the Emirates to put on the gloves one last time for the north London side, starting the league trip to Blackpool after all four goalkeepers were ruled out injured, and became the oldest player to appear for the club in the Premier League in the process before retiring again at the end of the 2010-11 season.

With Wojciech Szczesny, Lukasz Fabianski and Emiliano Viviano all available for tomorrow’s encounter, Lehmann will have to make do with a place in the stands.
