Arsenal won the Community Shield thanks to a first-half strike from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at Wembley Stadium.

The smart goal, which saw the English youngster turn inside Cesar Azpilicueta before firing with his left-foot into the top corner, allowed Arsene Wenger to end his 13-match winless run against great rival Jose Mourinho with a 1-0 win.

Chelsea arguably had the better of the chances with a first-half Ramires header and second-half Eden Hazard strike seemingly easier to score than miss.

But Arsenal held on stoutly - and may have scored a second themselves through substitute Olivier Giroud - for what will be a morale boosting victory.
