Manchester United midfielder Daley Blind could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines after injuring his knee playing for the Netherlands against Latvia on Sunday, joining Louis van Gaal's growing injury list at United.

Blind is a serious doubt for the trip to Arsenal next Saturday, and could be out for up to six weeks.

Netherlands coach Guus Hiddink revealed that Blind twisted or possibly ruptured a medial ligament in his knee in a challenge with in a challenge with Eduards Visnakovs.

Blind, a summer addition for United, then limped off in the 20th minute as the Netherlands thrashed Latvia 6-0 in the Euro 2016 qualifier. Hiddink said he would have an MRI scan on Monday.

"I'm rather negative," Hiddink said. "I think it's a medial ligament that is twisted. It might be a rupture."

United manager Van Gaal is already expected to be without Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, Rafael, Jonny Evans and Radamel Falcao for the trip to the Emirates next weekend.
