Everton sign up Linderoth

Everton have completed the signing of the midfielder Tobias Linderoth for an initial fee of £2.5m from the Norwegian club Stabaek. The Swede has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract. Everton could end up paying another £500,000 for the 22-year-old, depending on appearances.

Nottingham Forest's leading scorer, Stern John, is poised to join Birmingham City. Forest have agreed an undisclosed fee for the 25-year-old.

Benito Carbone has been fined two weeks' wages and warned as to his future conduct by Bradford after his refusal to play as a substitute in Tuesday's game against Preston.

Sheffield United are set for a boardroom reshuffle. Four new board members are to be drafted in, and a new shares issue is to be set up next month to provide the manager, Neil Warnock, with the funds to make a serious promotion bid.

* Tunisia went out of the African Nations' Cup without scoring a goal after a 0-0 draw with Senegal in Kayes, Mali, yesterday. The Senegal goalkeeper Omar Diallo saved a penalty from Slim Ben Achour in the dying seconds of the first half. In Group D's other game, Egypt took the last place in the next round with a 2-1 win over Zambia in Bamako with goals from Ahmed Hossam and Hassam Emam.
