Chris Coleman, the Fulham manager, has agreed a £3m deal with Portsmouth for Amdy Faye as a replacement for Sean Davis, who signed for Tottenham Hotspur last week.
Coleman moved fast for the Cameroon midfielder who will take over Davis' midfield holding role. The former Auxerre player, who was travelling to London yesterday for talks and a medical, had only been at Fratton Park for a season. Portsmouth could now spend the cash on buying Alexi Smertin from Chelsea or the Greece international Angelos Basinas.
Portsmouth, meanwhile, signed Lomana LuaLua and David Unsworth yesterday. LuaLua, 23, joins from Newcastle after spending the final four months of last season on loan at Fratton Park, while Unsworth arrives from Everton.
Also on his way out of Goodison Park - to Fulham for £1.3m - is Tomasz Radzinski, whose last act in Liverpool is likely to be paying a £35,000 fine from the furious Everton manager, David Moyes, for criticising him in a newspaper article.
The striker's remarks about Wayne Rooney needing to move andthe manager's decision-making are set to be the final chapter in his Goodison career.
