Sir Alex Ferguson has said that Manchester United's poor European performances will force him to reassess how to approach games at Old Trafford.
United won one of three home ties in the Champions League, and were beaten 3-2 by Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League on Thursday. Ferguson said: "We have had a bad year in Europe. Maybe it is just one of those years where we are having to reassess how we approach home games."
A new independent body to monitor club owners and directors and deal with on- and off-the-field discipline will be set up under wide-reaching proposals to reform English football. The proposal to set up an FA Regulatory Authority is contained in the football authorities' co-ordinated response to the Government's call for better governance. The response follows a parliamentary inquiry.
Fifa officials will interview a referee and players as part of a "priority" investigation into Bahrain's "unusual" 10-0 win over Indonesia in a World Cup qualifier last month. Bahrain trailed Qatar by three points and nine goals going into the final group games. Qatar scored a late equaliser to draw 2-2 and qualify ahead of Bahrain.
Port Vale have entered administration for the second time in nine years, Stoke-on-Trent City Council has confirmed. An unpaid Income Tax bill has led to creditors contacting the club, including the council who have a loan worth £1.8m outstanding. The club will be deducted 10 points.Reuse content
