Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has won a staggering £78,000 after betting on Floyd Mayweather to beat Manny Pacquiao last night.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who nows plays for FC Ufa in the Russian Premier League, had staked £50,000 and posted a screen shot of the bet online.

He wrote on Twitter: "Ain't gonna lie my armpit is all sweety deffo need a shower after that stake BRB."

Frimpong made only six appearances for the Gunners and has enjoyed loan stints at Wolves, Charlton and Fulham in the lower leagues.

A permanent switch to Barnsley in January 2014 lasted just four months before he was released.

But he has plenty to smile about now in Russia and his betting victory makes his improved fortunes just that little bit sweeter. When you bet on a man nicknamed 'Money Man', you've probably got luck on your side.
