Gary Neville: Valencia to Bolton? Championship strugglers most likely next managerial post

Gary Neville's difficult spell in charge of Valencia came to an end yesterday, just four months after it started.

There were great expectations around the former Manchester United and England player, however he managed just three wins in 16 La Liga games. He also oversaw the club's exits from the Champions League and Europa League and a 7-0 thrashing at the hands of Barcelona.

Attention now turns to what the former Sky Sports pundit will do next.

A return to the TV studio is the most likely next move for Neville, with bookmakers offering just 2/5 he will appear on Monday Night Football before the end of the season.

In terms of a return to management, bookmakers BetVictor have made Bolton the surprise most likely destination. Odds of 6/1 are being offered on Neville joining the Championship strugglers, who are almost certain to be playing in League One next term.

It is a three-way tie at 8/1 for Neville's next job to be with Nottingham Forest, England or Aston Villa.

Despite his failure with Valencia, the odds of Neville at some point becoming Manchester United manager - with either brother Phil or Ryan Giggs as his assistant - remain at a relatively low 6/1.

The likelihood of Neville never managing again are at 12/1.
