Gill denies that G14 clubs are planning breakaway league
Manchester United's chief executive, David Gill, yesterday denied that the G14 group, which represents the interests of 18 leading European clubs, want to break away from Uefa, Europe's governing body, and form their own league.
"I can categorically deny Manchester United or any other club in Europe has any interest in forming our own league," Gill said. "We are very comfortable with Uefa running the Champions' League. It is the best competition in the world. You need someone to organise a competition and the clubs don't want to do that."
