Graham agrees Spurs settlement

George Graham has reached an agreement with Tottenham over his claim for unfair dismissal. The Scot, who was sacked by Spurs at the end of March, had launched a claim for more than £2m against the club. However, he has settled on a payment of less than £1m, bringing the long-running dispute to an end.

Leeds United's interest in Sebastian Deisler, the Hertha Berlin and Germany midfielder, was confirmed last night by the player's agent. David O'Leary, the Leeds manager, watched the 21-year-old in action for his club last month and has learned that the player's contract would enable him to move for £6m.

Leeds have agreed to sell Alan Maybury, the Republic of Ireland right-back, to Hearts for an undisclosed fee. Maybury, 23, captained Leeds' 1997 FA Youth Cup-winning side but has made only 14 first-team appearances.

Leicester City's Muzzy Izzet has probably hastened his departure from Filbert Street by admitting he is unsettled at the Premiership strugglers. The midfielder said: "I haven't asked for a transfer but I am unhappy with the situation as things currently stand at Leicester. I am not happy with the way things have gone at the start of the season."

Glenn Roeder is hoping to sign Lille's centre-half Pascal Cygan. The West Ham manager watched the defender in Champions' League action on Wednesday. Middlesbrough are set to sign another French defender, Franck Queudrue, on loan from Lens.

Coventry City are not due to officially unveil Roland Nilsson as their new manager until next week, as the Swede has not had time to discuss the details with the club chairman, Bryan Richardson.

Burnley are trying to sign the German midfielder Thomas Sobotzik from Eintracht Frankfurt. Stockport County are signing the defender Lee Sandford from Sheffield United.

The World Cup qualifier between Israel and Austria, which was postponed last week for security reasons, will be played on 27 October, according to Fifa, the game's world governing body. A venue was not confirmed but it is expected to be Tel Aviv as planned.
