Manchester United held their Christmas party earlier this week - but captain Wayne Rooney has been holding on to a special picture.

Rooney, who missed the match against Stoke in midweek but is likely to be fit to play against Southampton on Monday, revealed on Instagram that he had sung for his team-mates at the bash.

The United skipper last month released a (pretty awkward) video of a jamming session with popstar Ed Sheeran and he was at it again at the party, getting up on stage to sing with the band.

All of the first team were in attendance, with their wives and girlfriends, as was head coach Louis van Gaal and assistant Ryan Giggs, along with the rest of the staff.

Marouane Fellaini said he was "looking after" teenager Adnan Januzaj, while Robin van Persie mocked the giant Belgian by wearing a big wig.

Rooney posted on the picture sharing site: "My turn to do a song at the Manchester United Christmas party!"

He also said it was a "Graet Christmas night out" on his Twitter page.

The players headed to The Place Aparthotel in Manchester following their 2-0 victory over Stoke City on Tuesday night for the party.
