Suspended Uefa chief Michel Platini is to appeal against a 90-day ban imposed by Fifa while their investigate corruption claims.
The former Ballon d'Or winner has been suspended along with Fifa president Sepp Blatter and Jerome Valcke, the secretary general. All three deny any wrongdoing.
Platini, 60, is the Football Association's preference to succeed Blatter as the president of football's world governing bod, while the French FA wants the Court of Arbitration for Sport to intervene to ensure the Frenchman can stand for elevtion.
The Fifa ethics committee has opened an inquiry into Platini over a €2million payment made to him nine years after he carried out consultation work for Blatter.
The Swiss attorney general has opened criminal proceedings against Blatter, accused of signing an "unfavourbale" contract to Fifa and making the above "disloyal payment" to Platini.
Fifa is to hold an emergency meeting on 20 October to discuss February's presidential election.
Platini has found support frin South America;s football confederation Conmebol, who said he should be regarded as innocent until proven guilty and that he should be still be allowed to run for the presidency.
