It was Beckham who contacted Milan about a possible move

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani remains hopeful David Beckham will arrive at the San Siro in January despite no agreement having been reached so far.

The England midfielder is in talks to join the Rossoneri on a short-term loan deal from the Los Angeles Galaxy.

"Beckham most probably will join us at the beginning of January," said Galliani. "He will remain with us for two or three months before returning to his club. But this is not a given."

Galliani claims it was Beckham who approached the Serie A outfit - a club he turned down two years ago before leaving Madrid to move to MLS.

"It was Beckham's idea," said Galliani. "It was the English player that contacted us via his lawyers, having previously stated his intention to play at Milan."

The 33-year-old, who signed a five-year contract with the MLS club in 2007, has denied his possible move to Milan is purely about boosting his prospects for England call-ups.
