Southampton manager Ronald Koeman is well and truly into the festive spirit and wore a Christmas jumper to prove it.

The Dutchman posted a picture of himself prior to the Saints' Christmas party on Twitter and gave the thumbs up just to show how cheery he is.

The post comes just hours after he saw he side lose 2-1 to Manchester United and the former Ajax manager signalled his view on the game with the accompanying message that read: "I believe in the way we played".

Southampton were much the better side at St Mary's with Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville saying Manchester United "got away with murder" whilst even Louis van Gaal admitted his side had been "lucky" to leave the south coast with three points.

Koeman wasn't the only one to slip into a Christmas jumper today, with a picture posted a couple of hours later on his Twitter page showing the Southampton team dressed up in festive attire.

Southampton players aren't the first to have donned silly jumpers this year with Alexis Sanchez posing in the offering from Arsenal's club shop last month. His choice of jumper was so bad it made it into our collection of the 20 worst football Christmas gifts of 2014...

Southampton's next match is against Burnley on Saturday.
