Ronaldo hailed Corinthians as "a light at the end of the tunnel" after the club confirmed they will announce his signing tomorrow.

The 32-year-old former Fifa world player of the year will be unveiled by the Sao Paulo giants tomorrow on a one-year deal.

And the injury-plagued former Barcelona, Inter Milan and Real Madrid striker believes the resurgent club, promoted this season after being relegated from the top flight a year ago, will prove to be the ideal base for him to prove his worth.

He told TV show Globo Esporte: "I had to make a decision because I love playing football.

"My life is football. Corinthians came out as a light at the end of the tunnel, as they trusted in me and my potential.

"The beginning will not be easy but it is a big chance for me to return in good form.

"The Corinthians group of supporters is huge and maybe the best-organised. I am sure they will demand a lot, but I always have this in my life. There is no way to escape."

Corinthians confirmed today they will unveil the striker tomorrow morning.

"Two-time world champion with the Brazilian national team and the leading scorer in the history of the World Cup, Ronaldo signed a contract with O Timao for one season," the club website reported.

He could make his debut in January when Corinthians begin the Campeonato Paulista state championship.
