Another season of Premier League survival for the Latics, making it four years now. We started slowly but soon found our feet and there were promising signs of Europe after Christmas.
We looked like a top six side with Antonio Valencia, Lee Cattermole and Wilson Palacios ruling the middle of the park. The departures of Emile Heskey and Palacios in January cost us heavily and they proved to be irreplaceable. Amr Zaki turned out to be a flash in the pan and Mido was a dire replacement. As ever we struggled against the big four clubs, but we have proved we can beat anyone else on our day. Steve Bruce laid strong foundations for the future. Each season we survive we are taken more seriously and the club continues to grow.
Which team were your best opponents?
The only team to really impress me this season was Aston Villa at our place, when they put four past us.
Who would you most like your team to sign this summer?
Steven Gerrard. I think he would slot nicely into our midfield alongside Lee Cattermole.
Wierdest/funniest moment
The arrival of Amr Zaki and his outstanding start to the season. Is he still bound for Real Madrid?
