Alex Song has re-joined West Ham United on a season-long loan from Barcelona.

The deal, which has been mooted since the start of the summer, was confirmed by West Ham joint-chairman David Gold on Twitter.

The Cameroonian ex-international was on loan at the Boleyn Ground last season, making 31 appearances in all competitions and putting in some impressive performances, especially in the first half of the season.

The Hammers also have the option of extending the former Arsenal midfielder on loan for a further season.

The Premier League club have also had a bid for £3m accepted for Hull City striker Nikica Jelavic, while Chelsea winger Victor Moses is expected to arrive on a season-long loan.

Song joined Barcelona from Arsenal in 2012 for around £15m, making 39 appearances during his time at the Nou Camp and failing to hold down a regular first-team place.

This spell followed 206 appearances for the Gunners from 2005 to 2012.
