Andre Villas-Boas not predicting busy transfer deadline day at Tottenham despite reported interest in strikers Leandro Damiao and Lisandro Lopez

Spurs target Leandro Damiao will reportedly remain in Brazil

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas believes late transfer activity at White Hart Lane today is ‘highly unlikely’ despite reports of interest in Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao.

Spurs have so far signed Zeki Fryers and Lewis Holtby this month and Villas-Boas does not expect any more with departures more likely on the final day of the transfer window.

"We look to be quiet in the market," the Portuguese said. "It's not impossible that a couple of things happen. It's highly unlikely.

"We need to add quality to the squad and our quality to the squad is keeping the players we have now and Lewis arriving."

There will be at least a couple of departures though with reserve goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes set for a loan move to Germany to join Hoffenheim, according to reports. Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp is looking to his former club for additions, with interest in permanent deals for Jermaine Jenas, David Bentley and Andros Townsend arriving on loan.

Villas-Boas also confirmed Tom Huddlestone is in talks to join Fulham: "There was an interest from Fulham. I'm not sure if they're going to follow on that interest.

"We've allowed the club to speak to the player. He's a player we rate very highly."

Huddlestone is eager to play regularly and get back into the England squad.

Spurs have been heavily linked with a move for a striker this window with concerns over an abdominal injury to Jermaine Defoe and with Emmanuel Adebayor, the club's only other senior forward, away on international duty with Togo at the African Cup of Nations.

Internacional forward Leandro Damiao, Lyon's Lisandro Lopez and his team-mate Bafetimbi Gomis are said to be targets for Spurs. However, the move for Leandro could be over after reports in Brazil suggested he would remain at Internacional until at least the summer.

The north London club have also been linked with a late move for Porto’s Joao Moutinho, who was a target during the summer window.
