Following the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas, attention has quickly turned to who will replace him at Tottenham.

One of those linked with vacancy is Guus Hiddink, who so successfully stood in at Chelsea when they needed a short-term replacement after sacking Luiz Felipe Scolari.

The Dutchman would be available for the remainder of the season before becoming Netherlands manager after the World Cup, leading to speculation Spurs will call upon him.

However, his agent has said he thinks it unlikely.

"I would be surprised if (Hiddink) went to Spurs," Cees van Nieuwenhuizen is quoted as saying by the Press Association.

"I could hardly imagine that happening.

"He has just signed a contract with Holland and he has also turned down offers from other countries recently to coach them at the World Cup so I wouldn't take any talk of Guus going to Tottenham seriously."

The bookmakers have installed Russia coach Fabio Capello as the early favourite. Franco Baldini, his former assistant at England, is Spurs' technical director, and Capello was at White Hart Lane yesterday commentating for Italian television.
