Arsenal injury news: Aaron Ramsey 'ruled out' for up to four weeks after suffering his third hamstring injury of the season

Aaron Ramsey looks set to be out for up to a month with a recurrence of the hamstring injury that has plagued him this season after he was forced off the field during Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Leicester on Tuesday night.

Ramsey was forced off the field just nine minutes after coming on, and the injury now stands as the third hamstring blow he has suffered this season. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admitted that the fresh setback for Ramsey was a cause for his to “worry”, with the club assessing his condition ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup tie with Middlesbrough.

However, it’s certain that Ramsey will miss the fifth round tie, and the Daily Mail claims the Wales international will be out until mid-March at the earliest.

Speaking immediately after the narrow win over the Foxes, Wenger said: “It looks like [a hamstring]. I don't know yet how bad it is but just visually it didn’t look good, when a guy stops straightaway and sits down, it is not good news. He has a recurrence now of a few muscular injures. We haven’t found out why.”

The loss of Ramsey will be compounded by the existing absence of Jack Wilshere. The 23-year-old is closing in on a return to training having undergone ankle surgery in November, but the England midfielder is not due to return to competitive football until the end of the month at the earliest and the likelihood is he will return in March as Wenger looks to ease him back into the thick of it.

The three points meant Arsenal moved back into the top four, although Manchester United could retake the position should they beat Burnley later tonight, and the Gunners attentions will turn to the cup this weekend as they look to continue the defence of the trophy that the club won last year to end the infamous nine-year trophy drought.

It means that Wenger could choose to go without influential forward Alexis Sanchez in his side given the Chile international was forced off the field in the 68th minute after picking up a knee injury in a heavy challenge from Matthew Upson.
