Arsenal's open-top bus parade for when they win the Premier League title will be held on Sunday, 22 May, according to Islington Council.

Or perhaps not.

The local authority were asked on Twitter when a parade would be held - teams who are top on New Year's Day have won 12 of a possible 23 titles in the Premier League era.

What to expect from Arsenal this transfer window

Arsene Wenger's team, of course, are top, ahead of Leicester City on goal difference.

But rather than ignore the comment, Islington Council responded with a full date.

"If Arsenal are to win the Premier League the parade will take place on Sunday 22nd May 2016," they wrote.

But after the message was picked up and gained a bit of traction it wss then deleted and the message retracted.

"Apologies for the error, there is no information about parade dates at this moment in time."

Arsenal fans may not be so forgiven to the council tempting fate.

It doesn't take too long a memory to look back to New Year's Day 2008. Arsenal were top of the league that season but a run of poor form saw them eventually finish third, Manchester United winning the league.
