Thierry Henry says that Cesc Fabregas deserved his yellow card for simulation during Arsenal's Premier League match with Chelsea, when the former Gunner went down in the box in rather theatrical fashion after clashing with Santi Cazorla.

"I don't think it is a penalty," the Gunners record scorer and former team-mate of Fabregas's Henry said during his role as a pundit for Sky Sports.

"There is contact but it is the way Cesc went down. The yellow is right."

Fellow pundit Jamie Carragher agreed with the decision made by referee Michael Oliver.

It was an incident-ridden first-half, with Chelsea having three failed penalty appeals to Arsenal's one.

Writing in his programme notes, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said before the game: “This afternoon’s match is a huge test for us, and one I believe we are ready for. We have three main targets. The first is to solidify our position in the league.

“We are in second place at the moment [at time of writing] and we can make this position stronger. The second target is of course to keep our run going. We want to continue to win. The third is to get closer to Chelsea before the end of the season. When you have an opportunity like that, you want to take it.”
