Arsenal vs Crystal Palace team news: Alexis Sanchez to make Premier League debut as Yaya Sanogo preferred to Olivier Giroud
Caretaker Palace manager Keith Millen hands debut's to Brede Hangeland, Frazier Campbell and Martin Kelly
Arsenal handed a Barclays Premier League debut to £30million summer signing Alexis Sanchez for Saturday's season opener against Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium.
There were also starts for full-back Mathieu Debuchy, signed from Newcastle, and former Southampton starlet Calum Chambers in defence. New captain Mikel Arteta anchored the midfield and Yaya Sanogo led the Arsenal attack, with Olivier Giroud on the bench. World Cup winners Per Mertesacker, Mesut Ozil and Lukas Podolski were yet to be considered.
Managerless Crystal Palace, with caretaker Keith Millen in charge following the shock departure of Tony Pulis on Thursday night, had new signings Brede Hangeland, Fraizer Campbell and Martin Kelly all in the starting XI, while striker Marouane Chamakh faced his former club.
