Arsene Wenger has named a new centre-back pairing with Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny out of the Arsenal side for tonight's game with Liverpool. Calum Chambers and Gabriel have come in.

Mertesacker is ill and Koscielny has a "mild" back injury.

Other than that, Wenger has named the same side that beat Crystal Palace 2-1 last weekend.

It means Olivier Giroud makes his 100th Premier League appearance whilst Theo Walcott must make do with a place on the bench.

Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers makes three changes from the side that beat Bournemouth last Monday.

Roberto Firmino, Emre Can and Lucas Leiva come into the side. Captain Jordan Henderson has failed to recover from injury, whilst Adam Lallana and Jordan Ibe are the other players replaced. Lallana is not on the bench but Ibe is.

Speaking ahead of the match, Wenger said: "If you want to have a successful season you want to be strong at home. Normally we are strong at home. This is an opportunity to show that."

Arsenal lost 2-0 to West Ham in their last match at the Emirates.
